So sad

Postby Jill » October 25th, 2015, 3:18 pm

Hi everyone if you are all still out there. I log into the forum as I have done so for the last 12 years and as time passes I see the posts have got fewer and fewer. It's been almost 5 month's since anyone has posted. This forum used to be one big family with posts about Andy, his music, our lives and how certain Andy songs had touched our lives. There was even recipes that we shared. I still make Andys pasta now.
It's really sad to see that people including myself have drifted away.
Andy if you are still here then please update us when you have finished this tour. This has always been the first port of call for anything Andy.

Hey Jill,

You're right. It's gotten really lonesome here. I still check in often, though. There's no doubt that we'd get a boost if Andy could stop by. As you said, maybe when the tour's over, he'll have a little time.

Hear that, Music Man? 8-) Meanwhile, have a great time zipping around Canada. We'll be thinking about you.

Talk to you later, Jill.

You are right Fran it is lonesome in here. It was really good when we all used to post. I still envy all of you who got to see him and meet him. I dont think he will ever come to the UK but at least he is touring Canada. Would be nice if anyone has seen his latest tour to post and tell us about it.
Well back into hibernation until I get a notification that someone has posted lol

Hey Jill,

It's popular now to say that things "evolve". When we stumble across each other on the Internet we're so happy to see each other, but then we move back into our own worlds. I'm just beginning to realize that social media are a lot different than real life, as much as we want to think it's a normal way to live. For a little while, some of us got to actually meet each other face to face, but living in entirely different states or provinces or even countries in not like our own neighborhoods. Try as we might, most of us just can't cope with hopping a plane half-way around the world. Flying from Texas to Canada presents many problems, not the least of which is a sudden plunge in temperature. I got on the plane in Houston in shirt sleeves, spent a few days bundled up in Toronto, never feeling warm, then got back to Houston, lugging my big, overstuffed down coat, which has hung in my closet ever since. :?

In about a month, I'll have known all of you for nine years. I think the most fun part of the forum was that first few months, when we were all posting and commenting so fast that we were stumbling over each other. It was so much fun exchanging our own stories and creating a bond around our common interest.....that so very talented singer/songwriter from Canada. 8-) With time and the new turns Andy's career has taken, it becomes more evident that he really is the glue that holds this forum together. I have a feeling that a lot of our old friends still check in here, but when they don't seen Andy's posts or our input, they get back to their own lives. It's sad, but I guess we've all evolved.

I certainly don't think all is lost here, though. Who knows when we might evolve back in the other direction? We wouldn't want Andy to stop writing and touring. That's what led to the old forum and to this one. Way too early for my taste, Christmas is already cranking up over here. My natural inclination was to go to YouTube again and watch Andy and Ron singing Whatever Happened To Christmas. It's amazing to me that we used to have so much trouble finding any videos of Andy and now YouTube is flooded with them. That's really a good thing. :)

Well, time to stop philosophizing. It's so nice to see you here again, Jill. Wouldn't it be nice if a few more members dropped by and we actually got a nice thread going here? Anything's possible.

See y'all around,
Fran

To be honest Fran I think it was when Andys career really started to take off again that we had virtual strangers posting in here and correcting us and even telling us off for us wondering why Andy hadnt posted. Andy has always been in charge of this forum and I for one and I know a few others felt the same we didnt like being chastised by someone we didnt know.

You're right about that, Jill and I've wondered if that's why a lot of the other members quit stopping by.

I know for sure it is Fran. I had a few messages and emails asking me who certain people were and were they Andys management etc but with the silly names some of them had who were posting then how could we tell??? We always know when Andy posts as he has his own unique way with words plus I dont think he would ever get someone to post on his behalf.
Seems like its just still you and me in here Fran

You're almost right, Jill. I know Neia and Jody still stop by, but like us, they probably didn't see anything to talk about. Another problem is that things are so streamlined here that we've lost some of the fun things we used to do. About the only things we can do are add smileys and post links. I know the reasons for that and shame of the spammers, but it really has changed things. About the only way a site can be really open these days is to have a staff to keep a constant watch on it.

Trouble is the forum needs people to post even if its just a quick hello. Yes the spammers were a pain but we got through it and yes we are streamlined now but to be honest it shouldnt really stop us.

Maybe we need to have a meeting.....maybe messaging on FB. We could plan to meet here on a certain day. Hey! Maybe Andy's birthday. If we can't plan something in a month, we're really slipping. I think there are some people who would stop by if they knew about it.
